I’ve taken up knitting as a distraction, and I have become completely obsessed! I’m no longer obsessed with writing however, so I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.
Here is my third project ever, a scarf for my mother in law.

This song has been running around in my head for a few weeks now and it took me a while to remember who it was. [tag]Alan Parsons[/tag] is probably one of the strangest artists/producers/engineers in the music business. This video from the 70’s confirms it. Inexplicably, It seems to be loosely based on “[tag]I Robot[/tag]“, the book by Isaac Asimov.
I love this song and I can think of a few people in my past who I would love to send the lyrics (or at least a similar sentiment) to in a letter. I’ve included the lyrics below. Enjoy the video.
Lead vocal: lenny zakatek
If I had a mind to
I wouldnt want to think like you
And if I had time to
I wouldnt want to talk to youI dont care
What you do
I wouldnt want to be like youIf I was high class
I wouldnt need a buck to pass
And if I was a fall guy
I wouldnt need no alibiI dont care
What you do
I wouldnt want to be like youBack on the bottom line
Diggin for a lousy dime
If I hit a mother lode
Id cover anything that showedI dont care
What you do
I wouldnt want to be like you

This has been in my head for 2 days now. Listening to the classic rock station as I work on the Deck brings a lot of old songs back. Enjoy:
Home in the valley
Home in the city
Home isnt pretty
Aint no home for meHome in the darkness
Home on the highway
Home isnt my way
Home Ill never beBurn out the day
Burn out the night
I cant see no reason to put up a fight
Im living for givin the devil his due
And Im burnin, Im burnin, Im burnin for you
Im burnin, Im burnin, Im burnin for youTime is the essence
Time is the season
Time aint no reason
Got no time to slowTime everlasting
Time to play b-sides
Time aint on my side
Time Ill never knowBurn out the day
Burn out the night
Im not the one to tell you whats wrong and whats right
Ive seen suns that were freezing and lives that were through
And Im burnin, Im burnin, Im burnin for you
Im burnin, Im burnin, Im burnin for you

This happens so often I thought I might try to make it a feature on the site. I’m going to call it “the [tag]song in my head[/tag]” and I’ll just post the lyrics to whatever song is currently stuck in my head so you can share in my misery … or joy … whatever.
Here’s the first one. It’s a catchy little ditty from [tag]Rod Stewart[/tag].
If I listened long enough to you
Id find a way to believe that its all true
Knowing that you lied straight-faced while I cried
Still I look to find a reason to believeSomeone like you makes it hard to live without
Somebody else
Someone like you makes it easy to give
Never think about myselfIf I gave you time to change my mind
Id find a way just to leave the past behind
Knowing that you lied straight-faced while I cried
Still I look to find a reason to believeIf I listened long enough to you
Id find a way to believe that its all true
Knowing that you lied straight-faced while I cried
Still I look to find a reason to believeSomeone like you makes it hard to live without
Somebody else
Someone like you makes it easy to give
Never think about myself

Here’s what I cooked today. I thought I might make this a semi-regular feature titled “What am I cooking?”.
Low Fat Chocolate Chip Banana Bread
Recipe was altered by me to include chocolate chips and eliminate walnuts
2 eggs
2/3 cup white sugar
2 very ripe bananas, mashed
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/3 cup nonfat milk
1 Tbs vegetable oil
1 Tbs vanilla extract
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chipsDirections
1 Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Spray a bread pan with non-stick cooking spray, and lightly dust with flour.
2 Beat eggs and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Beat in bananas, applesauce, milk, oil and vanilla.
3 In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Stir flour mixture into banana mixture, mixing just until blended. Fold in chocolate chips. Pour batter into prepared pan.
4 Bake in preheated pan until golden and a toothpick inserted into center of the loaf comes out clean, about 1 hour. Turn bread out onto a wire rack and let cool.Servings: 12
