Whydoibother.com was hacked!
Seriously, why anyone would bother hacking my site I have no clue. I’m a low traffic site with only a few dedicated (bored?) readers. As far as I can tell the extent of the damage was some links to external sites added to two posts. One of the posts had some code that triggered my antivirus software to warn me. If you have received such a warning after visiting my site I’m sorry. The warning I received referred to “downloader”
My site was hacked by someone taking advantage of a vulnerability in the version of WordPress that I had been using. I’ve since upgraded my WordPress installation and the problem should be fixed now. Sorry for any problems that may have been caused in the meantime. If you haven’t visited the site in the last two or three weeks, you were not exposed to any malicious code.
