Pumpkin Carving Madness
Author: JeffreyI got a little carried away this year with the [tag]pumpkin carving[/tag]. I have tried some pretty creative things in the past, but I decided to go a little beyond this time, well … for me anyway. I thought you might like to see the results. I’lll show you the process I went through.
I started with this picture of Mel and I:
Then I erased the background and reduced it to black and white with only 3 tones, like this:
Then I traced the image onto the pumpkin and carved it out to different depths. The dark areas remained as the skin of the pumpkin, the midtone areas i carved to about 1/4″ deep, and the lightest areas to about 1/2″ deep like this:
And here’s what it looks like lit up. You have to use your imagination here, hard to take a picture in the dark:
Overall, I was pleased with the results. What do you think?

questions:
1; do you know anybody that ought to be invited to my exhibition in November and December?
2; could you spare a minute (or twelve) to help me polish up my web site? (two sales already)
3: I can’t remember the real question I wanted to ask…Oh Links! How about it?

Hey, I liked your pumpkin carving. It didn’t look like it was easy to do. The artistic gene lives.
