Pumpkin Carving Madness
I got a little carried away this year with the pumpkin carving. I have tried some pretty creative things in the past, but I decided to go a little beyond this time, well … for me anyway. I thought you might like to see the results. I’lll show you the process I went through.
I started with this picture of Mel and I:
Then I erased the background and reduced it to black and white with only 3 tones, like this:
Then I traced the image onto the pumpkin and carved it out to different depths. The dark areas remained as the skin of the pumpkin, the midtone areas i carved to about 1/4″ deep, and the lightest areas to about 1/2″ deep like this:
And here’s what it looks like lit up. You have to use your imagination here, hard to take a picture in the dark:
Overall, I was pleased with the results. What do you think?
