My Father’s Valentine
Dad’s heart surgery went very well yesterday. The surgeon made 30 holes in his heart with a laser in a relatively new and seldom performed surgery called TMR. As I explained in a previous post, it is not really understood why this benefits some heart patients, but it is suspected that it stimulates the growth of new blood vessels and possibly also deadens some nerves resulting in reduced chest pain.
In addition to the TMR, two more grafts were made to bypass arteries on the back side of the heart which is also seldom done because of the difficulty of the procedure.
As of this morning, Dad was sitting up and had made a phone call to my sister to ask her to bring him a pillow from home. He is still experiencing some pain from the surgery, which is normal.
Thanks for all your thoughts and good wishes.

Surgery Update…
My dad’s surgery seems to have gone well. He went in for surgery around 7:00 am on Tuesday morning, and we received a call in the waiting room at around 10:00 to let us know that they had gotten his heart stopped and he was on the heart/lung mac…
Sounds like it went well and that he is in good hands. sending good vibrations to all of you.
I’d say thoughts and prayers to your dad but being and atheist and all it wouldn’t mean much so best of luck.
Off-topic.
I was updating my links page and I have all kinds of problems viewing your blog.
The page is sloooooooooooooooow. Choppy.
No title.
Can’t see your links.
I’m using IE if that helps.
Good luck with everything that’s far more important than blog business. Let me know when you get the bugs worked-out and I’ll give you a shout-out on Who Would Jesus Hate.
Cheers,
Leanne
Thanks, Leanne.
I am indeed having trouble with getting my blog theme to work properly in IE. I appreciate the heads up, any advice on how to fix it?
It is great to be home after a week in the hospital for this heart thing. We live in a “just fix it” society. We want everything to work just right on the first try even if we don’t read the instructions. I wonder where our culture would be if we spent adequate time before hand reading the instructions. Everything from marriage to our technological wonders can be made to work better with a little honest effort. We spend an amazing amount of time getting ready for a wedding and nearly zero getting ready for marriage.
