Walking the Wife

Author: Jeffrey

Mel is feeling much better. It’s amazing to me how quickly the body can recover from injury. Her surgery was pretty invasive, but already she is up walking around and even showering. She still needs help from time to time, but she is doing very well.

It’s a good thing, too. I think she is getting a little too comfortable with the whole wait-on-me-hand-and-foot thing. It’s ok though. Maybe someday I can have a breast reduction surgery and she can wait on me.

Truly, I don’t mind it at all. It has been nice to spend the week with her. It’s also been nice to have some time around the house to work on some projects. I would have liked to work on some things out in the yard, but the rain has been so bad. Instead I spent a lot of time in the garage making a cat house. Mel says we should call it a cat castle, but I think cat house is more fun. It’s one of those carpeted climb and scratch deals that you pay hundreds for in the store, but you can make one yourself for hundreds. Whatever … I’m having a good time doing it.

Today I am taking her walking, if she ever gets off the phone. Her friends have been coming to see her or calling her pretty much non-stop for the last few days. As soon as I finish this post I’m going to yank the phone cord and we’re out of here. She needs the air and the exercise, and so do I.

If you haven’t already done so, you can leave your get well messages for her here if you like.
