A Week Off

Author: Jeffrey

surgery.jpgMel goes in for surgery monday afternoon. I will leave it to her to tell you what it’s all about, but I will say that it’s not a life threatening sort of thing. Well, surgery is always dangerous but what I mean is she is not have surgery to correct something life threatening.

We are both a bit anxious about it. I’m afraid that I’m not that good at easing her mind or making her more comfortable either. I want to be supportive, and I really do worry about her. I think part of the problem is that she is so strong most of the time. She doesn’t give many clues about what her needs are. I’ll do the best I can.

I’m taking the week off work to help with her recovery. Part of her after care will require that someone be there to help her get in and out of bed, and perform everyday tasks including some basic hygiene. You can use your imagination to fill in the blanks. We will be stocking up on rubber gloves and baby wipes if that helps to paint a picture for you.

I won’t lie and tell you that I’m looking forward to it, but I can honestly say that it means a lot to me to be able to be there for her. She is always looking out for me, in big ways and small. Finally I get a chance to take care of her in a meaningful way.

I am open to any suggestions about what to do while she is bed ridden and helpless. haa haa.
